Champlain Canalway Trail
Description
The Champlain Canalway Trail is a 62-mile multi-use trail extending from Waterford to Whitehall in northeastern New York. Sharing a footprint with the Empire State Trail and parts of State Bike Route 9, the route takes walkers and cyclists through a landscape rich with its agricultural and cultural heritage with many points of interest to explore along the way. The full length of the trail parallels the Erie Canalway National Heritage Water Trail with trailheads at water access points.
The Empire State Trail is the largest network of multi-use trails in the United States. Stretching from New York City to Canada and Albany to Buffalo, the Champlain Canalway Trail is a major piece of the North-South connection.
