Spend the day exploring Washington County’s great trails, craft beverages, and more, on a day trip from Lake George!

Washington County shares Lake George with the village and its encompassing county, Warren. From Pilot Knob in the south to Anthony’s Nose near the northern shore, you might not even know you’ve been enjoying our area’s incredible views.

Start your day with a short yet satisfying hike to Shelving Rock Falls. You can follow the trail all the way to Log Bay for incredible views of Lake George, or soak up the sounds of the falls.

Incredible Dining Near Lake George

And if you work up an appetite, there’s no need to head all the way back to Lake George Village. There’s incredible dining and refreshing craft beverages all along the return route. As you head back into Fort Ann, check out Battle Hill Brewing Company for craft beer and pub fare. Also in Fort Ann, is Lake George Distilling Company, known for their whiskeys and moonshine blends, made with local grains! Stop in for a tasting or try one of their Moonshine slushies!

If you’re looking to explore, take the long way around and head through Hudson Falls and Fort Edward.

You’ll find more great craft beer at Slickfin Brewing, also featured in the video. Known for their awesome decor and small-batch brews, you won’t want to miss this Washington County hotspot! Stumpy’s Pizza is another local classic, with great pizza and wings, plus family dinners and incredible desserts. Plus, they’re just steps from Slickfin!

Taking a later-in-the-day trip from Lake George? Enjoy late lunch or dinner at the Anvil Inn! Specializing in steak and seafood, the restaurant is housed in an original 1800s post-and-beam blacksmith shop.

Argyle Cheese Farmer, located in Hudson Falls, offers incredible aged cheeses, milk and yogurt products, their famous cheese curds, and more, all made with their local dairy’s milk. You can even schedule a tour of their farm and production facility to learn more about what goes into your favorite products.
