These locations range from beginner to master and everything in between. Bring the family, bring the dog, many of these places are family-friendly and not overly challenging for children or pets. Spend the afternoon climbing and enjoy all the beautiful views Washington County has to offer.

Washington County has the trails of your biking dreams. Some feature both suburban and rural scenery while others highlight the beauty of Upstate New York. Most trails are family friendly and can be thoroughly enjoyed on summer days as well as classic, colorful New York fall.

Snowmobiling Trails

Looking for trails during the winter months for snowmobiling? We’ve got those too! Washington County has several trails and snowmobiling clubs that ride all over. Check out all our trail locations and see which one excites you!


More of a winter sport person? No worries, Washington County has plenty to offer you too! From Cross Country to Alpine, Washington County offers some great places to get outdoors in the winter and hop on some skis.

  Delaware & Hudson Rail Trail

Route 22, Granville, NY 12832

Unpaved but flat enough for bicycles and strollers. Roughly 7 miles. Walkers can park near the Slate Valley Museum off water street or in public parking off Main Street.

  Feeder Canal Heritage Trail / Warren County Bikeway

Feeder Dam, Queensbury, NY 12803

A 9-mile former town path from Feeder Dam in Queensbury to Mullen Park in Fort Edward. The Feeder trail is primarily stone while the Warren County bikeway is paved and works well for a variety of non-motorized recreational activities. Dogs are not allowed on or along the Warren County Bikeway section of this trail. Access points include but are not limited to Feeder Dam, Haviland Cover and Mullen Park.

  Black Mountain


Pike Brook Rd, Clemons, NY 12819

Enjoy a scenic 2.5-mile hike well-suited for beginners. The most popular trail on the mountain can be accessed from Pike Brook Road in Dresden.

  Buck Mountain


1750 Pilot Knob Rd, Kattskill Bay, NY 12844

 A 3.3-mile trail leads to a rocky summit that gives an almost 360 degree view of Lake George. A great hike for beginners and dogs.

  Shelving Rock Falls


Fort Ann, NY 12827

A roughly 1.7-mile hike featuring a 50-foot waterfall. Hikers be aware, footing by the falls can be slick and has caused a number of serious injuries in years past.

  Sleeping Beauty Mountain


Feeder Dam, Queensbury, NY 12803

A roughly 7 mile round-trip hike with beautiful views. Great for intermediate hikers.

  Pilot Knob Preserve


Pilot Knob Road, Fort Ann, NY 12827

A family-friendly trail with spectacular views. This trail takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes.



White Lane, Argyle, 12809

A beautiful snowmobile trail with great winter scenery.

  Hudson Crossing Park – The Champlain Canal Trail


Co Rd 42, Schuylerville, NY 12871

Hudson Crossing Park is proud to be the mid-point along the Champlain Canalway Trail, a regional trail network that leads from Waterford to Whitehall for bikers, walkers, and snowmobilers. This trailway connects communities up and down the canal and encourages people to be active and explore the historic and recreational resources that are available in our region.
