Don’t let the dreary days of November get you down. There’s tons of fun to be had in Washington County, even when skies are grey or rainy!
There’s no better time to get those creative juices flowing than on a lazy, rainy weekend.
Learn from a professional artist when you take a class at the Learning Art Studio. Located on the main drag of Hudson Falls in the Sandy Hill Arts Center, the Learning Art Studio offers classes for children and adults, taught by multi-disciplinary artist Olga Aleksandrova. From classical styles to creative crafts, there’s something for everyone!
For another chance to stretch those creative muscles, check out Sip & Swirl in Greenwich! This paint and sip studio offers custom classes for your friends and family. It’s a great way to get together when the weather has you feeling down.
Also in Greenwich is Wicked Wicks Creations and More, a shop and cafe with unique items made by local artisans. They also host workshops and events, everything from comedy and drag shows to jewelry making and painting.
Looking for a more rural experience? Try a “goat therapy” session at Sperry Family Farm in Argyle! The “ridiculously friendly and super cute” herd of dairy goats is ready to welcome you for a relaxing afternoon of goat cuddles. Book your visit or contact the farm for more info!
While they may not be the most unique places, Washington County is home to some great indoor experiences.
Explore the natural history of the area in the Pember Museum and Library. Learn about the role of Granville, the “Colored Slate Capital of the World,” at the Slate Valley Museum. Take a stroll through time at the Old Fort House Museum or the Cambridge Historical Society.
Throw it back to middle school days and head to the bowling alley. We’re home to two great, recently-renovated alleys: Slate Valley Lanes and Broadway Lanes. Both also have a full-service bar and snack bar with all the classics: wings, pizza, burgers, and more!
Plus, Broadway Lanes in Fort Edward now has two Full Swing E6 Golf Simulators. Keep up your swing in the off-season or play one of the dozens of other simulator games: from hockey and hunting to carnival games.
No matter where your day takes you, make a full day of it and enjoy a farm-fresh meal at one of our local restaurants, or sample field-to-glass craft beverages at one of our tasting rooms. Washington County really is home to four seasons of fun!
