Hike, Bike, or Paddle Along the Empire State Trail

The 750-mile trail passes through Washington County via the Champlain Canalway Trail, which runs from Waterford to Whitehall.  Bicyclists and hikers can explore New York State’s extraordinary experiences, people, and places. Plus, you can hit the water and paddle your way along the route, too!

Slate Valley Rail Trail

Following the bed of a former D&H rail line the Slate Valley Rail Trail offers year-round recreation opportunities. Popular activities for trail users during the warmer, summer months include horseback riding, biking, jogging and walking, and then transition to snowshoeing and snowmobiling during the winter months. Trail users come from near and far to see the historic and inspiring views of the Slate Valley. This includes the vibrant foliage, rural nature, and glimpses of local farming culture. Lauderdale Park

Washington County's public park on Lake Lauderdale. 2021 Schedule June 26th - September 6th open 7 days a week Hours Picnic Area and Beach: 11am – 7pm (lifeguards on duty at this time) Park Features Basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, swings and nature trails, swimming. Canoes and Kayaks permitted. General Admission: $2/car (parking fee)     ***SPECIAL: $20 season pass***
